Franciscan Health Crawfordsville hosting QPR suicide prevention class Nov. 16

CRAWFORDSVILLE – Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau, is hosting a Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) suicide prevention class from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in Crawfordsville.

QPR is an entry-level suicide prevention course that teaches how to identify suicidal ideation and how to persuade someone to seek help. QPR is a widely taught gatekeeper training course. Like CPR, QPR is an emergency system that can help someone in a crisis and save lives.

Those who become QPR-trained gatekeepers will gain the ability to recognize signs of suicidal thoughts, provide hope and support, and guide someone to life-saving assistance.

To register, contact Betsy Coffing, community health improvement coordinator at Franciscan Health, at (765) 423-6909 or email Betsy.Coffing@FranciscanAlliance.org.

The Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau is located at 808 W. Pike St. in Crawfordsville.

If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide or a mental health crisis, call the National Suicide Hotline at 988.
