ORLEANS — Orleans town crews are hard at work this week installing custom “Hometown Heroes” banners along Maple Street (State Road 37) as the community prepares to honor local military service members for the upcoming Veterans Day holiday.

The banners are part of “Operation Orleans Hometown Heroes,” a community initiative launched this past August as a joint effort between the Warren Brock American Legion Post #69 and the Town of Orleans.
The project invited area residents to honor family members and friends—both past and present military veterans—by purchasing personalized street banners. Custom-designed and created by local business HD Graphix, each banner highlights an individual hero and their dedication to the country.
Crews are mounting the banners onto the town’s decorative period streetlamps lining Maple Street. They will remain prominently displayed throughout November to celebrate veterans and recognize their service.
Town officials and American Legion leaders expressed pride in the community’s response to the project, noting that the vibrant display along the State Road 37 corridor serves as a visible tribute to Orleans’ deep-rooted military heritage.
