Pet Friendly Services provides spay/neuter funding for 20 feral dogs in Huntington County

HUNTINGTON – Pet Friendly Services of Indiana is providing spay/neuter funding for approximately 20 feral dogs and puppies that Huntington County Humane Society is working to bring to safety.

The humane society recently reported an ongoing effort to trap the hungry, frightened dogs. Safely capturing the animals requires significant time, patience, and resources, with additional care needed as each dog is secured. Pet Friendly Services’ funding will help address a key medical expense as the humane society works to meet the dogs’ needs.

“When a shelter takes on a rescue effort like this, the costs add up quickly,” said Cheri Storms, executive director of Pet Friendly Services of Indiana. “By providing spay/neuter funding, we can take one expense off their plate so they can focus more of their resources on bringing these dogs to safety and helping them recover.”

Spaying and neutering the dogs will also prevent future litters, helping ensure this crisis does not continue to grow.

The assistance reflects Pet Friendly Services’ role in supporting shelters, rescues, and community cat programs across Indiana. Access to spay/neuter funding helps these organizations respond to immediate needs while addressing pet overpopulation.
