After kicking off the 64-team national bracket and winning their first two head-to-head matchups, the Hot Dogs find themselves in the Round of 16. They are currently competing against the Fergus Falls High School Otters and their mascot, “Otto,” hailing from Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Voting for the current round is decided entirely by the public and runs through Friday, Oct. 23. Organizers note that every vote counts as students, alumni, local families, and community members rally to push their school into the upcoming Round of 8, which opens on Saturday, Oct. 24.

A Nationwide Battle of School Spirit

Launched by The64.com, the 18-day tournament began with 64 high school mascots from across the country vying for the national title in a bracket-style competition. Unlike traditional contests judged by panels, the winner of each round is decided purely by public popular vote, with a new round opening every three days until the ultimate champion is crowned. The tournament concludes with a final championship showdown running from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.

“High school mascots represent generations of tradition and community pride,” said Justin Woo, founder of The64.com. “This competition gives students, alumni, and supporters across the country a fun way to rally behind their schools and introduce their mascots to a national audience.”

Last year’s inaugural tournament was won by Central High School’s “Karl the Cobbler” from Rapid City, South Dakota, setting a high bar for community engagement and school spirit.
