SCOTTSBURG — The Scott County Visitors Commission has donated $49,000 to fund fish habitat improvements at Hardy Lake, partnering with state wildlife officials to enhance angling conditions in the reservoir.

The funds will be used to purchase approximately 200 MossBack Fish Habitat structures, which are scheduled for installation by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in early 2027.
These artificial, long-lasting structures are engineered to mimic natural cover, offering shelter for fish and creating more productive fishing spots for local and visiting anglers. Fisheries experts note that artificial cover projects play a vital role in sustaining healthy, resilient fish populations and maintaining overall lake quality.
The Hardy Lake initiative is part of an ongoing statewide effort under the DNR’s Reservoir Habitat Enhancement Program, which collaborates with local organizations and conservation partners to restore and upgrade aquatic environments across Indiana reservoirs.
