Greene County agreement advances unified development and marketing of WestGate@Crane

ODON – The Greene County Redevelopment Commission approved a real estate agreement on September 24 authorizing the Uplands Science & Technology Foundation (USTF) to market and lead development negotiations for county-owned property in the WestGate@Crane Technology Park. The agreement gives the county a dedicated partner for the prominent commercial site.

The agreement covers Progress Pointe Phase II at the park’s northern entrance on U.S. 231. The WestGate@Crane Master Plan identifies the highway-visible property for commercial services supporting Naval Weapons Station Crane personnel, WestGate employees, and I-69 travelers. USTF will lead prospect outreach and deal coordination, with the county retaining proceeds from a future sale.

WestGate@Crane spans Daviess, Greene, and Martin counties beside Naval Weapons Station Crane. Agreements covering county-owned land in Daviess and Greene counties, together with coordination with private landowners in Martin County, allow USTF to offer prospects one point of entry to sites across the park.

Bryant Niehoff, CEO of USTF

“Our goal is to make establishing a presence at WestGate@Crane as straightforward as possible,” said Bryant Niehoff, CEO of USTF. “One call can connect a company with the sites, infrastructure, and partners needed to move an opportunity forward. That coordination saves time and helps WestGate compete as one technology park.”

USTF has secured and directed more than $40 million in state and federal infrastructure and site-development funding. Its pipeline includes 21 projects representing more than $1 billion in identified capital investment and more than 1,140 potential and realized jobs. WestGate has also added more than 160,000 square feet of new facilities in the past two years.

John Mensch, president of the Greene County Redevelopment Commission and chairman of the WestGate Authority

“Greene County has held this property for the right opportunity, not simply the first one,” said John Mensch, president of the Greene County Redevelopment Commission and chairman of the WestGate Authority. “This agreement gives us another way to find a project that puts the land to work, adds to the tax base, and benefits the county for years to come.”

“This partnership extends our reach while keeping local priorities at the center,” said Brianne Jerrels, executive director of the Greene County Economic Development Corporation. “USTF can market Progress Pointe through established defense and commercial real-estate networks, qualify prospects and help turn interest into investment.”
