Bedford woman arrested following traffic stop, drug seizure on State Road 37

BEDFORD — A 44-year-old Bedford woman was arrested Friday night after law enforcement officers intercepted her vehicle following a drug monitoring investigation and seized methamphetamine, suspected heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Holley Stevens

Holley Stevens was taken into custody on October 2, 2026, by the Lawrence County Police Department. She faces preliminary charges including dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Augustus Hogan, officers were monitoring a 2020 white Ford Fusion using FLOCK license plate recognition cameras in connection with an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity. Investigators anticipated the vehicle, driven by Stevens—who had a suspended driver’s license—would return to Lawrence County from Monroe County.

At approximately 9:54 p.m., Officer Hogan spotted the vehicle traveling south on State Road 37 near Washboard Road. After clocking the vehicle at 67 mph in a 60 mph zone, Officer Hogan conducted a traffic stop on Burkwood Hills Lane.

During the stop, a Lawrence County K9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert for narcotics. A search of the automobile’s trunk revealed four hypodermic syringes and a broken spoon containing burned residue inside a tent bag.

When officers informed Stevens she was being arrested and warned her against transporting contraband into the county jail, Stevens voluntarily retrieved two plastic bags hidden inside her clothing. The packages contained a clear crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing 21.77 grams, and 3.74 grams of a pinkish-brown powder identified by Stevens as heroin.

According to court documents, Stevens indicated during an interview that she had traveled to Monroe County to procure narcotics for distribution in Lawrence County.

Stevens was transported to the Lawrence County Jail for booking and housing. Evidence seized from the scene has been submitted to the Indiana State Police laboratory for formal testing.
