Limestone Capital Half Marathon Expo brings community together in Downtown Bedford

BEDFORD — The excitement surrounding the Limestone Capital Half Marathon was already building Friday afternoon as runners, families, volunteers, and community members gathered at the Downtown Depot for the Limestone Capital Half Marathon Expo.

Held on October 2 from 4 to 6 p.m., the expo offered more than a place for runners to pick up their race materials. It served as a community gathering point, bringing together people who traveled to Bedford for the marathon and local residents supporting the event.

Music helped create an upbeat atmosphere throughout the Downtown Depot as attendees made their way through the expo. Runners were able to find their race numbers and pick up their bibs while exploring the many tables and activities available.

The expo featured a variety of items designed to help participants prepare for race day. Tables offered goodies and essentials such as bags, water bottles, first-aid kits, sunscreen, reflective vests, cooling towels, and T-shirts.

There were also several opportunities for attendees to enter drawings and sign up for prizes, giving visitors another reason to stop by each table and interact with those helping make the event possible.

Food and refreshments were another part of the afternoon, with a snack area offering both healthy and sweet options along with drinks. The area gave participants a chance to grab a snack, take a break, and enjoy the atmosphere before the weekend’s races.

More Than a Race

The Limestone Capital Half Marathon Expo reflected the community spirit that has become an important part of the event. While the marathon itself puts runners at the center, the weekend brings together volunteers, businesses, families, spectators, and organizations from throughout the area.

For Bedford, events such as the Limestone Capital Half Marathon provide an opportunity to welcome visitors while giving local residents a chance to come together and celebrate their community.

The energy at the expo was a reminder that the Limestone Capital Half Marathon is about more than crossing a finish line. It is also about the people who participate, volunteer, cheer from the sidelines, and help create an event that brings the community together.
