MITCHELL — The Mitchell Opera House is set to host “Amarillo: A Tribute to the King of Country” on Saturday, October 10, 2026, offering local country music fans an evening dedicated to the legendary hits of George Strait.
The idea for the tribute show was first sparked in 2024 during a conversation between two veteran musicians who shared a deep appreciation for authentic country and western swing. Seeking to capture the signature sound defined by fiddle, steel guitar, honky-tonk piano, and classic guitar work, the founders assembled a lineup of like-minded performers to bring the project to life.
Following extensive rehearsals that began in the fall of 2025, the group made its live debut in March 2026. The production brings together eight experienced musicians alongside dedicated sound and lighting technicians to deliver a full-scale concert experience honoring George Strait’s iconic career.
