LOOGOOTEE — The Loogootee Police Department has officially opened its hiring process for a probationary patrolman, seeking qualified candidates to join the municipal law enforcement agency in Martin County.
Interested applicants have until Thursday, October 8, to submit their paperwork.
Application and Testing Details
Candidates can pick up physical applications in person at the police station—located at 401 North JFK Avenue in Loogootee—or request a digital copy via email at police@loogootee.in.gov. Completed applications may be returned either in person or by email prior to the October 8 deadline.
Following the submission window, mandatory candidate evaluations will begin immediately:
- Testing Start Date: Friday, October 9
- Required Stages: Physical agility testing, written examination, and formal panel interviews
Hiring Requirements and Career Path
Standard Indiana law enforcement hiring guidelines require candidates to be United States citizens, at least 21 years of age, and possess a valid driver’s license alongside a high school diploma or equivalent.
Selected probationary patrolmen will typically undergo rigorous field training and attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) to receive state certification, covering firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operation, defensive tactics, and criminal law.
