Equipping Community Members to Respond to Crisis

Much like traditional CPR or first aid courses, Mental Health First Aid is designed to give everyday individuals the skills needed to recognize and support someone experiencing a mental health problem or substance use challenge.

Organizers point to alarming national statistics highlighting the urgent need for community-level intervention:

  • Nearly 1 in 5 adults in the United States currently lives with a mental illness.
  • An average of 130 people die by suicide every day across the country.

Participants in the course will learn how to apply a structured 5-step action plan to navigate crisis situations safely and compassionately.
