WASHINGTON — Law enforcement agencies are investigating an early morning shooting that left a vehicle and a residence damaged by gunfire in the 1400 block of East National Highway.
Emergency dispatchers received initial reports of the shooting early Thursday, September 10, 2026. Officers with the Washington Police Department, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, responding officers located a vehicle of interest tied to the investigation. Detectives, K9 teams, and Crime Scene Investigators were dispatched to process evidence and assist with the ongoing inquiry.
According to the Washington Police Department, multiple individuals were subsequently located and brought in for questioning. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, though all individuals questioned or detained are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Police reassured the community that there is no known ongoing threat to public safety.
Investigators are calling on residents and business owners in the surrounding area for assistance, particularly those located southwest of the scene, extending toward Highway 57.
Property owners with security cameras, doorbell cameras, or motion-activated surveillance systems are asked to review any footage or motion alerts recorded between 1:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 10.
