BEDFORD – General Motors is investing more than $40 million in Bedford Casting Operations to support production of 10-speed transmissions for full-size trucks and SUVs and expand capacity for existing 8-speed transmissions and block production.
Bedford Casting Operations produces aluminum die castings for cylinder blocks, transmission cases, structural components, and EV drive unit housings used in multiple GM products.
“We are proud that GM is investing in Bedford Casting Operations and in the talented team members who have built our plant’s reputation for safety, quality, and craftsmanship,” said Elisha Huddleston, plant director, Bedford Casting Operations. “This opportunity allows us to continue supporting GM’s full-size trucks and SUVs while providing even greater job security for our team members and continued support for the Bedford community.”
Work will begin immediately, with regular production expected to start in 2027.
The investment reinforces GM’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing, supports job security, strengthens ties with employees and the local community, and helps position Bedford Casting Operations for long-term competitiveness. This year alone, GM will spend approximately $9 billion across its U.S. manufacturing footprint, along with more than $7 billion on U.S. research and development.
