LAWRENCE COUNTY — Have you been thinking about entering Persimmon Idol? Don’t wait any longer; the clock is ticking!
There is very little time left to register for this year’s Persimmon Idol competition, and singers who want their chance at the spotlight need to get their entries submitted before registration closes Thursday, September 10 at noon.
That means if you’ve been putting off signing up, now is the time to do it.
Persimmon Idol, part of Mitchell’s annual Persimmon Festival celebration, gives local singers the opportunity to take the stage, compete against other talented performers for a $500 cash prize and Persimmon Idol trophy.
The competition is divided into two age groups and each division will have an Idol that receives the $500 cash prize!
- Youth Division: Ages 10–17
- Adult Division: Ages 18 and older
Registration Ends September 10
Again, the deadline is Thursday, September 10 at noon. Once that deadline passes, registration will be closed. However, walk ins are accepted on site as early at 3:30 p.m.
Those who register will then participate in preliminary auditions on Thursday, September 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mitchell High School Auditorium. During the auditions, the public and family members will not be allowed to watch.
So, if Persimmon Idol has been sitting on your to-do list, this is your reminder to move it to the top.
Your Chance to Take the Main Street Stage
Contestants selected to advance from the preliminary auditions will be notified by Wednesday, September 17.
Finalists will then perform in front of the public on Mitchell’s Main Street Stage on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m.
The final performance is free and open to the public, giving friends and family the chance to cheer on the contestants.
And, of course, there is more than bragging rights on the line. The winner of each division will receive a $500 cash prize and WQRK and LITE FM Persimmon Idol trophy.
