COLUMBUS — The Columbus Regional Health (CRH) Foundation has named the 2026 recipients of two annual health-related scholarships, awarding financial support to healthcare professionals and medical students pursuing advanced education.
Ashley Bostwick and Marely Cheek have been named the 2026 recipients of the Robert Borczon Memorial Scholarship. The award honors the legacy of Robert Borczon, who served as Chief Administrator at CRH from 1967 to 1985. It is presented annually to eligible CRH employees seeking professional development in health-related fields through post-secondary education. Recipients are selected based on academic performance, financial need, and personal interviews.
Ashley Bostwick is a Clinical Risk and Patient Safety Consultant at CRH. Bostwick joined the organization in February 2017 as a Multi-Modality Image Technologist. She is pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health and Safety Management to advance safety standards for both patients and healthcare workers.
Marely Cheek is a Patient Care Technician I on the Medical Surgical Unit since July 2.23, Cheek is working toward an Associate Degree in Nursing with the long-term goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She aims to utilize her training to assist the Spanish-speaking community and address language barriers in healthcare delivery.
Ronald D. Roberts, M.D., Memorial Medical Scholarship
Riley Ables has been awarded the 2026 Ronald D. Roberts, M.D., Memorial Medical Scholarship. The annual scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Roberts, a local physician and advocate for continuing education. It provides financial assistance to medical students residing in Southern Indiana who demonstrate strong academic potential and financial need.
Ables, a graduate of Columbus North High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Indiana University in 2023. He is currently in his fourth year at the Indiana University School of Medicine and is expected to graduate in 2027. Upon completing his medical degree, Ables plans to complete an Anesthesiology residency and practice medicine in Indiana.
