BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is launching new intensive skills training programs in fiber optic and network cable installation and is currently seeking applicants to teach the short-term training courses. Three years of experience in the field is required; no teaching experience necessary.
“This isn’t a traditional faculty job. We need people who have pulled cable, spliced the fiber, and who want to pass along those skills to area residents who want to enter this high-demand field,” said Adam Gross, Vice Chancellor, Ivy+ Career Link.
The instructor will lead eight-week cohort-based programs that take students from boot camp orientation through fiber optic and network cabling certification exams. They’ll teach technical content to students in a dedicated training lab and connect them with area employers.
The salary range is $55,000 to $65,000, plus an employer retirement contribution.
