Man failed to comply with probation terms; Judge orders prison sentence

BEDFORD – On July 16, 2026, a Bedford man was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction b
Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline after failing to comply with the terms of his probation.

Viking Wright

Viking R. Wright, 44, pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, on August 28,
2025, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. He was originally sentenced to
910 days, with 2 days jail credit, and the remainder of his sentence suspended. He was ordered to serve
545 days on supervised probation in exchange for his guilty plea.

However, Wright failed to comply with the terms and conditions of his probation by failing drug screens, failing to report to a probation appointment, and non-compliance with court-ordered programs. On July
16, 2026, the Hon. Judge Cline sentenced Wright to 900 days in the Indiana Department of Correction and terminated his probation unsuccessfully.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy stated, “The defendant was given the opportunity to comply with the terms of probation and address his substance abuse issues through treatment. Instead, he repeatedly failed to meet the requirements of probation by failing drug screens, missing a scheduled
probation appointment, and leaving treatment. The court’s sentence holds him accountable for those violations and recognizes the importance of following court-ordered programs. Probation is an opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to rehabilitation, and when those conditions are repeatedly disregarded, there must be consequences.”
