
Danny Lee “Dan” Eggersman, 84, of Seymour, IN, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. He was born on July 9, 1942, in Seymour to the late Bertha (Farrell) Boofer and Lawrence Eggersman.
Dan lived in Jackson County most of his life and graduated from Seymour High School in 1960. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on several boards. He was baptized on July 10, 1942, and confirmed in Christ. On August 4, 1962, he married Linda Sue Cox. They were married for 46 years until her passing in August 2008.
Danny loved to hunt, raise bird dogs, farm, haul grain, and work on cars and engines. He worked at Cordes Hardware, Cummins Engine Company, Eggersman Enterprises LLC, and various small jobs throughout his life. He always said he met some special people while growing up and working.
He loved his family and friends and always looked forward to their visits. He also loved going on a good bird hunt with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Davis of Seymour, IN; his son, Gregory (Paula) Eggersman of Jonesville, IN; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Kit) Venderley, Trevor Davis, and Tyler (Molly) Davis, all of Seymour, IN; Alyssa (Jimmy) Hall of Franklin, IN; great-grandchildren Easton Fleetwood, Rhett and Wrenleigh Venderley, Emilia and Sandler Davis, and soon-to-be Davis twins, Aubrey and Piper Hall; half-sister, Donna Bedel of Jacksonville, FL; half-brother, Garry Boofer of Seymour, IN; his siblings’ children, Troy (Maureen) Eggersman of Dallas, GA, Todd (Mary) Eggersman of Woodstock, GA, Nicole (Bill) Thompson of Alpharetta, GA, Jason Bedel of Columbus, OH, and Darby Boofer of Seymour, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Eggersman; parents, Bertha Boofer, Farrell Boofer, and Lawrence Eggersman; brother, Larry Eggersman; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, and uncles.
Services for Dan will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 606 South Walnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274, with Rev. Dr. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip E. Bloch, and Rev. William Fredstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 419 North Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274, and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Lutheran Men’s Chorus, Camp Lakeview Ministries, or the donor’s choice.
