BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Commissioners have approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Quality Correctional Care (QCC) to deliver dedicated dental services to inmates at the Lawrence County Jail.
The agreement addresses an ongoing service gap at the facility after efforts to secure care through local community dental practices were unsuccessful.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day, bringing an outside correctional health vendor into the jail is the best option because services will be provided on-site.
Under the newly approved MOU, Quality Correctional Care will provide necessary dental treatments directly within the secure setting of the jail. Rather than a fixed flat-rate contract, the Sheriff’s Department will be billed for dental services as they are rendered.
Quality Correctional Care is an Indiana-based medical and dental provider specializing in healthcare services tailored for county jails and correctional facilities.
The organization employs licensed dental professionals and registered dental assistants to deliver on-site oral care, pain relief, and routine clinical treatments directly within secure institutional environments, reducing the security risks and costs associated with transporting inmates to off-site medical appointments.
