Arrest made on nation wide extradition warrant

DEKALB COUNTY – On Monday, August 10, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers with the Indiana State Police and the Garrett Police Department arrested a male who was wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant issued by the Department of Corrections.

The warrant stemmed from a theft case originating in Noble County.

After speaking with several individuals, receiving assistance from the public, utilizing social media, and with help from Chief Heffelfinger and the Garrett Police Department, officers located Ryan J. Kilburn, 32, of Kendallville, at the Shell gas station on State Road 327 (Randolph Street) in Garrett.

Kilburn was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Noble County Jail.

Chief Heffelfinger and officers from the Garrett Police Department assisted the Indiana State Police in the arrest.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
