Orleans Town Crews currently performing hydrant maintenance on West Jackson Street

ORLEANS Town maintenance crews are currently conducting routine fire hydrant maintenance along West Jackson Street in Orleans, officials announced.

As a result of the work, residents and businesses in the immediate area may temporarily experience low water pressure, brief periods of no water pressure, or discolored tap water while the flushing and maintenance process is underway.

Utility officials advise residents experiencing discolored water to avoid doing laundry, particularly washing white or light-colored clothing, until the lines clear.

Once maintenance in the area is complete, impacted customers can clear their household plumbing by running cold water from a tap for a few minutes until the water flows clear again.

Town crews are working to complete the maintenance as quickly and safely as possible to minimize disruptions to municipal water service.
