FORT WAYNE – The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for Regional Dispatchers at the Fort Wayne Post to staff the Regional Dispatch Center at 5811 Ellison Road, Fort Wayne.

There are currently two openings. This dispatch center covers both the Fort Wayne District and the Peru District. The Fort Wayne District includes LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Whitley, Allen, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Blackford, and Jay counties. The Peru District includes Fulton, Cass, Miami, Wabash, Howard, Grant, and Tipton counties.
Primary responsibilities of a dispatcher include receiving, recording, and accurately dispatching information to police personnel, other law enforcement agencies, and support services through the use of a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Records Management System (RMS), Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), Geographic Information System (GIS), and other Regional Dispatch Center resources. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, as well as the ability to remain seated in a confined area for extended periods of time.
Starting pay is $47,320 per year, with adjustments based on education, experience, and training. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and accrued time off.
