Despite the recent dip, current Indiana prices remain 21.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 34.7 cents per gallon above where they stood this time last year.

Across Indiana, pump prices varied widely, spanning a $1.01 per gallon difference between the lowest and highest reported costs:

In nearby metropolitan markets, prices also experienced downward trends compared to last week:
- Indianapolis: $3.47 per gallon (down 13.8 cents)

- Champaign, Ill.: $4.20 per gallon (down 11.9 cents)
Nationally, diesel fuel prices also recorded a modest decrease, falling 5.1 cents compared to last week to reach an average of $5.275 per gallon.

The national average gasoline price saw a double-digit decline over the past week, dropping 10.7 cents to $3.94 per gallon, based on data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports across 150,000 stations nationwide. “Average gasoline prices declined in 47 states over the last week while diesel fell in 39, with the national average price of gasoline posting a double-digit drop per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “However, the wild ride continues. Iran is pushing back against a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and oil prices edged modestly higher in Sunday night trading, signaling that the recent relief may not last. With the Strait remaining closed, upward pressure on fuel prices could return quickly… For now, enjoy the dip, but keep a close eye on how the Strait situation develops in the days ahead.”
