Orleans Police purchase drone with donation from Hoosier Uplands

ORLEANS – Hoosier Uplands recently donated money to purchase a drone for the Orleans Police Department. In recent years, the local law enforcement agency has encountered several instances where a search for a missing person has occurred in town.

OPD Officer Justin Riddle (L) and Assistant Chief Drew Henderson (R) will be the pilots of the drone. They will have to complete a lengthy course and pass an exam to become certified UAS (unmanned air system) pilots.

They now will have the capability to cover more ground and see more area, night or day.  This will be such a huge benefit to the department and the citizens of Orleans in the event of locating someone’s loved ones.
