Philip C. Jenner, 79, of Oolitic, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Born on May 6, 1947, in Potsdam, NY, Philip was the son of William Mark and Elizabeth (Bush) Jenner. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Cathy Crane, who survives him. Philip retired from General Motors in 2006 and was a proud member of UAW, Local 440. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
A 1965 graduate of Norwood Norfolk School, Philip played on the high school hockey team. He attended Canton ATC in 1966 and, continuing his love of the sport, played one season with the men’s hockey team, the Northmen. Phil was a member of Zeta Alpha Phi and proudly served as a member of the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department. Phil was a longtime member of the Norfolk Youth Hockey Association and was involved in the original construction of the Norfolk hockey arena. He served as a squirt hockey coach in the 1970’s and was also a youth hockey referee. His dedication to Norfolk youth hockey/sports activities was exceptional. He was one of many dedicated Norwood-Norfolk hockey parents who took it upon themselves to enhance the St. Lawrence County minor hockey youth experience.
Philip’s greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy; his sister, Carolyn (William) Swafford of South Colton, NY; his son, Philip (Lynn) Jenner of Dexter, NY; and his daughter, Natalie (Scott) Blais of Mt. Juliet, TN.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Jaicee Needler, Thomas Blais, Jordan Jenner, Danielle Jenner, and David Jenner; his great-grandchildren, Oliver, Harper, and Hazel Needler; his stepdaughters, Sherrie Eads of Poland, IN, and Stacy Cox of Bedford, IN; his step-grandchildren, Tiffany Freeman, Brandy Eads, George Eads, Seth Christenberry, and Shylie Finley; as well as several step-great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Elizabeth Swafford, and his nephews, R. Neil Swafford and W. Mark Swafford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, David Mark Jenner.
