BEDFORD — The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County is on the lookout for people interested in volunteering for their After School and Flag Football programs.
The organization strives to help young people reach their full potential by providing access to enriching programs and guiding them toward a brighter future. There are currently two upcoming volunteer opportunities available for those interested.
After School
This is the perfect opportunity for those interested in helping with homework, participating in classes, assisting with after-school activities, providing an art project, or hanging out in the gym with kids. Individuals interested can help every once in a while or set up a schedule to volunteer regularly.

Flag Football
This is the perfect opportunity for those interested in volunteering as a coach, referee, scoreboard operator, or to help on game days. The flag football season runs from August to October. The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County needs at least five volunteers this season. Volunteers’ time is appreciated and helps make the season a success. Volunteers will also receive 50% off their child’s registration.
“We could always use help with running concessions. We are always short on referees, so we could always use referees and coaches,” said Athletic Director Mark Albertson. “As far as a coach, you would be responsible for setting your practices, reaching out to players’ parents, and basically running your team. I always look at flag football as a good beginning.”
