LAWRENCE COUNTY — Road maintenance efforts across Lawrence County remain on schedule this week as highway crews complete several major projects and transition into the next phase of summer repaving.
During Tuesday morning’s Board of Commissioners meeting, Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder provided an update on recent paving progress and outlined the work schedule for the remainder of the week.
Crews are officially tackling Stumphole Bridge Road, with paving operations scheduled for completion today. Once finished, work will immediately shift to West Powerline Road, where paving will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Sowder confirmed that paving work on two major thoroughfares—Boone Hollow Road and Stars Boulevard—is now complete.

Highway officials are also coordinating to address bridge approaches across the county. Sowder noted that he is working to get a crew scheduled to pave the approaches on Thursday and Friday, contingent on weather and crew availability.
In the interim, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching bridge sections. A sign has been posted warning drivers of a small bump at the approaches until permanent repaving is completed later this week.
