Edinburgh Main Street to launch inaugural Rubber Duck Regatta in August

EDINBURGH Families and visitors will have a new reason to flock to Edinburgh next month as Edinburgh Main Street prepares to host its first-ever Rubber Duck Regatta at Irwin Park.

Scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, the family-friendly event is designed to boost local tourism and bring community members together along the banks of the Blue River.

Oversized Duck Races and Festival Fun

The centerpiece of the day’s festivities will be a series of duck races down the Blue River featuring oversized rubber ducks. Participants—including individuals, families, businesses, local organizations, and teams—can purchase and decorate their own ducks before competing in various heats. The top racer will walk away with the coveted “Top Duck Trophy”.

Beyond the river races, the event will feature a broad lineup of activities throughout Irwin Park, including:

  • A local Jeep Show
  • Food trucks and booths featuring local and regional vendors
  • Live music provided by a DJ
  • Lawn and children’s games, along with additional family-oriented entertainment

Boosting Local Tourism

Organizers credited a grant from Festival Country Indiana, the tourism commission for Johnson County, for making the launch, promotion, and anticipated growth of the event possible.

Crissy Riley, Vice President of Edinburgh Main Street

“Our goal is for the Rubber Duck Regatta to become a signature annual event that celebrates our community while supporting local businesses and encouraging tourism,” said Crissy Riley, Vice President of Edinburgh Main Street.
