BEDFORD – Registration for the Bedford Recreation Foundation’s annual Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic, set for Labor Day weekend at the Otis Park Golf Course, is now full.
All tournament rounds are currently full, and a waiting list has been created for those who still wish to play. Those still interested can call or go to Indiana Steel & Engineering Corp., located at 957 J St, Bedford, and put their name on the first-come, first-served waiting list.
The entry fee is $75 per player. Teams can consist of up to six players.
Participants have the option to pre-pay for special tournament features. These include the “Roll 4 Red” and “Par 3 Mulligan” contests, available for $15 per team, or the “Try for Dye” contest, priced at $10 per player. When an entire team participates in the “Try for Dye” contest, they gain the benefit of taking their second shot from a designated fairway area, roughly 175 yards from the green.
The weekend’s event will offer over $30,000 in prizes, including grand prizes, hole-in-one prizes, a putting contest, and a weekend Par 3 shoot-out.
As the main fundraiser for the Bedford Recreation Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, this 30-year-old tournament has raised over $1.1 million and contributed more than $825,000 to the community.
