BEDFORD — Residents are invited to gather in downtown Bedford tomorrow evening for a synchronized, patriotic reflection on the nation’s founding documents.
A public reading of the Declaration of Independence will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Harp Commons, located at 1539 J Street.

Resident Nathan Watson will read the historic document aloud. The event is part of a coordinated, statewide observance organized in partnership with the Indiana America 250 Commission and county America 250 committees across Indiana.

At the same hour, communities throughout the Hoosier State will gather simultaneously to read the text that proclaimed the birth of the United States of America and established the enduring principles of liberty and equality upon which the nation was founded.
Organizers encourage community members to bring their families, friends, and neighbors to Harp Commons to reflect on the historical text as Indiana continues its commemorations marking America’s 250th anniversary. Attendance is free and open to the general public.
