WASHINGTON — The United Way of Daviess County has announced a fresh round of localized grant funding, delivering over $23,000 to three prominent nonprofit organizations dedicated to senior nutrition, public safety, and addiction recovery across the county.

The funding utilizes both standard program allocations and specialized community grant windows designed to empower grassroots organizations to expand their reach.
Senior & Family Services, Inc. received a grant of more than $3,200. The organization plans to direct the entirety of the funds toward bolstering its local senior nutrition programming, ensuring that vulnerable, homebound older adults and local seniors have steady access to freshly prepared, balanced meals. The programming aims to reduce food insecurity among the region’s aging population while providing regular wellness checks during meal deliveries.
The largest portion of the recent announcements came via the United Way’s specialized funding tracks, which awarded matching $10,000 investments to two critical community safety nets:
- Hope’s Voice (CFS Corp): Awarded $10,000, the organization provides comprehensive crisis counseling, emergency safety planning, and legal advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Daviess and Knox counties. The specialized funds will help sustain their 24-hour crisis hotline and confidential advocacy services.
- REAL Recovery: Also awarded $10,000 through the special funding track, REAL Recovery operates as a certified Recovery Community Organization (RCO) in Daviess County. Led by individuals with personal lived experience, the nonprofit will utilize the funds to expand peer-driven support services, bridge localized gaps in care, and increase community-wide access to stable housing and employment resources for individuals navigating substance misuse and mental health challenges.
The strategic investments align closely with the United Way of Daviess County’s core focus on community health, safety, and long-term financial stability. By targeting flexible funding toward targeted, localized operations, the organization aims to reduce systemic barriers for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) households and vulnerable individuals during periods of transition or crisis.
