Two new art exhibitions set to open this Friday at the Waldron Arts Center

BLOOMINGTON Art lovers have a dual reason to celebrate this weekend as the Waldron Arts Center prepares to debut two new exhibitions this Friday, July 3. The opening reception promises a vibrant mix of contemporary printmaking, introspective abstract art, and local music.

The community is invited to the center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday to explore the galleries and enjoy music provided by DJ Bryce Martin. Organizers are inviting the public to step inside the climate-controlled galleries to cool down from the recent blazing hot summer weather.

In the Spotlight Gallery: M. Griffin

The Spotlight Gallery will feature a solo exhibition by artist M. Griffin. The collection takes viewers through a series of abstractions rooted in the artist’s personal coming of age, their experience living in Bloomington, and the existential journey of finding a place in the world.

Utilizing deeply rich color choices and integrated found materials, Griffin’s work creates a visual landscape specifically meditating on the distinct, formative period of life that defines one’s early 20s.

In the Main Galleries: Mini Midwest Print Fest & Big Steamroller Show

Simultaneously, the Rosemary P. Miller and Educational Galleries will host a collaborative, uplifting exhibition featuring participating artists from both the 2025 and 2026 Mini Midwest Print Fest and Big Steamroller Show.

The large-scale prints on display showcase highly distinctive individual styles and varied messaging, creating a layered viewing experience. In addition to the final prints themselves, the educational exhibit will feature behind-the-scenes event photography, promotional advertising materials created by local printmakers, and the actual carved blocks used in the printing process.

Gallery Hours and Weekend Visits

Following Friday’s opening night, the new exhibitions will remain on display throughout the month. The Waldron Arts Center galleries will observe the following public hours for July 2026:

  • Wednesday through Friday: Noon to 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: By appointment only
  • Performance Hours: The galleries will also be open to patrons during all scheduled Constellation performances at the Waldron.
