BLOOMINGTON — Communities and non-profit organizations looking to secure critical funding for local initiatives have a premier opportunity to sharpen their skills this season. Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI) has officially opened the application window for its Fall 2026 Grant Writing Fellowship cohort, with a submission deadline set for Friday, July 17, 2026.

The intensive, specialized initiative is designed to establish a powerful, collaborative network of professional and volunteer grant writers across the 11 counties that comprise the Indiana Uplands region—including Brown, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Owen, Orange, and Washington counties.
Moving Ideas from Concept to Submission
Securing capital from state, federal, and major philanthropic entities requires high-level technical skills. The Grant Writing Fellowship pairs local leaders with industry experts to demystify the funding landscape. Over the course of eight comprehensive sessions—delivered through a strategic hybrid of in-person workshops, virtual classes, and individual instructor office hours—selected Fellows will master the complete lifecycle of a grant proposal.
Key Learning Outcomes for Selected Fellows:
- Targeted Prospecting: Learn to successfully identify specific state, federal, and philanthropic grant opportunities tailored to your unique community needs.
- Guideline Compliance: Develop technical writing skills to build competitive proposals that precisely match strict legal and organizational grant guidelines.
- Narrative Building: Explore creative ways to articulate and “tell” your community’s unique story to capture a funder’s attention.
- Stakeholder Synergy: Discover how to build sustainable, cross-sector partnerships with local businesses, schools, and government officials.
- Financial & Analytical Modeling: Learn to construct meticulous project budgets, identify meaningful metrics to measure community impact, and effectively visualize that data for final reports.
- Post-Award Success: Study long-term program sustainability and learn how to manage awarded funds to a successful, legally compliant conclusion.
