Steven Roscoe Nolan, 77, of Heltonville, passed away at Bloomington Hospital, surrounded by his family, on June 24, 2026.
Born on May 31, 1949, he was the son of Kenneth and Helena (Jackie) (Ross) Nolan. Steve married Sharon Lynn Anderson on September 4, 1970, and she survives.
Steve was a 1969 graduate of Mitchell High School and also attended Indiana State University. He devoted over 30 years to his career at General Motors as a tool and die maker, and also served as Union Benefits Representative before retiring. Steve also spent countless hours of service to the community as a volunteer fireman on the Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as Fire Chief. He was also a proud member of the UAW Local 440.
A strong man of faith, Steve was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church and currently attended Heltonville Christian Church. The many memories, relationships, and friendships Steve created over the years remained an important part of his life.
Steve loved his family and everything outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and supporting his children and grandchildren at their many activities and events over the years.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sharon Nolan; their children Shane (Courtney) Nolan, Shannon Duckworth, and Susan Day; his grandchildren Matthew Day, Cade (Katie) Nolan, Erin (Autumn) Borders, Natalie Day, Asa Duckworth, and Alexandria Day; and great-grandchildren Lyrick Day, Liam Day, and Hadley Nolan.
His humor, smile, and laughter will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Day & Carter Mortuary, with Jon Lineback officiating, and will include an IVFA Memorial Service. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Cemetery in Bedford. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on June 30 th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve’s memory to Heltonville Christian Church or Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department.
