BLOOMINGTON — With Independence Day quickly approaching, the Monroe County Democratic Party is inviting residents, supporters, and families to join them on the parade route for a morning of civic participation and community celebration.

The organization has officially launched its volunteer signup drive for the annual 4th of July Parade, scheduled for Saturday, July 4th.
Participants are instructed to gather at 9:00 a.m. at the Mills Pool parking lot, at 1100 W. 14th Street in Bloomington, which will serve as the group’s staging area before moving to the official parade lineup.
Organizers are encouraging community members of all ages to get involved, offering several ways to take part in the procession based on physical mobility and comfort levels. Volunteers can choose to:
- Walk with Candidates: March alongside local and regional Democratic candidates currently campaigning for the upcoming 2026 mid-term elections.
- Distribute Candy: Walk the parade perimeter to hand out treats and campaign materials to spectators lining the streets.
- Ride the Float: Snag a spot on the official party float, offering a seated option for those who prefer not to walk the entire route.
To ensure the party has an accurate headcount for candy distribution, float capacity, and volunteer t-shirts, coordinators are asking participants to register in advance.
“Sign up now to walk with us in the July 4th Parade!” the organization announced, emphasizing that the event is a prime opportunity to build community momentum and show high-visibility support for the local party infrastructure.
