Briarwood paving schedule updated due to inclement weather; Paving dates announced for Greer Lane and Brown Station Road

LAWRENCE COUNTY — Local officials have announced updates to the upcoming road improvement schedule following recent inclement weather. Paving for the Briarwood addition has been rescheduled, and specific guidelines have been issued to ensure residents maintain access to their homes during construction.

Briarwood Paving Details (June 29th – June 30th)

Because the Briarwood addition has only one entrance and exit, crews will pave one lane at a time to ensure that traffic can continue to flow.

The paving workflow will proceed as follows:

  • Monday, June 29th: Paving will begin on Briar Avenue, moving from the dead end to Briarwood Lane.
  • Next Steps: Equipment will move to the cul-de-sac at the end of Cedar Valley Lane, proceed to Poplar View Lane for paving, and finally turn left onto Briarwood Lane toward the exit.
  • Note on Access: Briarwood Lane, from the intersection with Poplar View Lane, has been recently paved and will remain completely open throughout this process.

Residents in the Briarwood area are asked to remove all vehicles, basketball goals, and any other personal items from the roadway before Monday morning. Additionally, motorists are strictly advised not to drive on the new pavement until it has been properly rolled by the construction crew.

Additional Roadwork Scheduled for July 1st and July 2nd

Following the completion of the Briarwood addition, highway crews will move to other local roadways. These projects will utilize a “one-pass full-width” paving method:

  • Wednesday, July 1st: Greer Lane (one-pass full width).
  • Thursday, July 2nd: Brown Station Road, from Highway 50 to Leatherwood (one-pass full width).

Daily operations for all scheduled dates are set to begin between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., with crews attempting to complete work by 4:00 PM each day.

Local officials thank residents in advance for their cooperation and patience as these necessary infrastructure improvements are completed.
