Indiana State Police announces promotion and reassignment of two from Sellersburg District

SELLERSBURG — The Indiana State Police is pleased to announce a promotion and a new specialty assignment within the Sellersburg District. Detective Rob Caudill has been promoted to Squad Sergeant at the Sellersburg Post, and Trooper Eric Powers has been selected for assignment to the Indiana State Police Special Operations SWAT Team. Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott recognized both officers during an official ceremony in Indianapolis on Thursday.

Sergeant Rob Caudill – Promotion to Squad Sergeant, Sellersburg Post

Sergeant Rob Caudill is a 1992 graduate of Charlestown High School and an eight-year veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Caudill was appointed as a trooper with the Indiana State Police in December 2007 and assigned to the Sellersburg Post. Throughout his ISP career, Caudill has served as a Field Training Officer, an Emergency Vehicle Operations and PIT Instructor, and a member of the Meth Suppression Unit. He has also been a member of the ISP South Zone Dive Team and served as a certified dive instructor. Caudill was later selected to serve as a Detective at the Sellersburg Post, where he continued his investigative work until this most recent promotion. He now steps into his new leadership role as a Sellersburg District Squad Sergeant. Sergeant Caudill resides in Clark County with his wife, Jeri.

Trooper Eric Powers – Assigned to Indiana State Police Special Operations SWAT

Trooper Eric Powers

Trooper Eric Powers is a 2010 graduate of Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a 2008 graduate of Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana.

Powers was appointed as an Indiana State Trooper in May 2014. He served in the Toll Road District from 2014 to 2018 before transferring to the Sellersburg District, where he currently serves. His experience includes working as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Mobile Field Force, and a certified Less Lethal Operator. Powers earned the ISP Life Saving Award in 2026 for distinguished service.
Powers will now serve on the Indiana State Police Special Operations SWAT Team, where he will support high-risk operations and tactical missions statewide.
