Trooper’s response leads to life saving support for Fort Wayne man

FORT WAYNE – On Saturday, June 13, 2026, just after 2:30 p.m., an Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post Trooper responded to a report of a medical issue on Union Chapel Road near Coldwater Road.

It was reported that a truck left the roadway, and the driver appeared to be having a medical problem. Preliminary information indicates that the driver suffered a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to run off the road. When the trooper arrived, an off-duty EMS Chief had stopped at the scene and was providing medical aid to the driver. The trooper joined in administering care, assisting with CPR, and deploying his department-issued AED to deliver life‑saving shocks.

At last check, the driver was recovering at a local hospital. Out of respect for privacy, the person is not being identified.

Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post, Fort Wayne Police Department, and firefighters and medics from the Northwest Fire District worked together to provide the best care for the victim.
