INDIANA — More than 500 adult bicycle helmets sold exclusively on Amazon are being recalled because they fail to meet federal safety standards, leaving riders at risk of severe head injuries or death in a crash.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on June 4, 2026. The helmets, manufactured by Dongguanshizhouhedianzishangwuyouxiangongsi (doing business as Gudook Outdoor Sports of China), failed critical government tests for impact attenuation.
Impact attenuation measures a helmet’s ability to absorb and dissipate the force of a collision. Helmets that fail to meet these mandatory federal requirements cannot be legally sold in the United States and may not protect a rider during a fall or accident.
To date, no injuries have been reported in connection with the product.
Recall Details: What to Look For
The recall impacts approximately 520 units. Consumers can identify the affected helmets by checking for the following specifications:
- Brand & Model: Gudook Adult Bike Helmet, Model KY-055
- Color & Size: Blue and white, Size Medium (M), designed to fit head circumferences of 21.3 to 22.4 inches.
- Appearance: Features red interior padding, black straps, a black and red buckle, and a black adjustment knob on the back. The brand name “Gudook” is printed on the side.
- Batch & Production Codes: Only helmets with Batch Number 202503 and a production date of March 2025 (03/2025) are included. These details are printed on a white label located inside the helmet.
The recalled helmets were sold online through Amazon.com between May 2025 and February 2026 for roughly $23.
What Affected Consumers Should Do
Safety officials advise consumers to stop using the recalled helmets immediately. Because federal law strictly prohibits the resale or donation of recalled items, the helmets must be destroyed and disposed of.
To receive a full refund, owners should take the following steps:
- Destroy the helmet by cutting off the chin straps.
- Take a photograph of the destroyed helmet, ensuring the internal label showing the batch number is clearly visible.
- Email the photo to Gudook Outdoor Sports at lexi_kuyou@163.com to initiate the refund process.
Once the refund is confirmed by the company, the helmet should be thrown away.
