TOMY recalls 40,000 Boon NURSH Baby Bottles sold at Walmart over choking hazard

INDIANA TOMY International, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 40,000 Boon NURSH 8 oz Reusable Baby Bottles after discovering a manufacturing defect that poses a severe choking hazard to infants and young children.

The nationwide recall, officially announced on June 4, 2026, was launched after reports revealed that the bottle’s hard plastic outer shell can bubble or partially peel away during normal use. This degradation releases loose, film-like plastic fragments that could easily be swallowed or inhaled by a feeding child.

To date, TOMY has received 135 separate reports of the outer plastic shell bubbling or peeling. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Product Identification: What is Being Recalled?

The recall specifically targets a single style of bottle sold exclusively at Walmart retail stores and online at Walmart.com from November 2025 through May 2026. The 3-packs retailed for approximately $20.

Parents should check their nurseries for the following product details:

  • Product Name: Boon NURSH 8 oz Reusable Baby Bottles (3-Pack)
  • Colorway: Pink Tie Dye
  • Design Features: The bottles feature a rigid, hard plastic outer shell encasing a soft inner silicone pouch, with the distinct “Boon” logo printed on the side of the shell.
  • Tracking Numbers: The item number B11654 and UPC 669028116546 are printed clearly on the bottom of the product packaging.

The Boon NURSH bottle line is highly popular among parents due to its dual-layer design, which is marketed to reduce air intake during feeding and offer an alternative to traditional plastic bottles. Because the outer shell can fragment during handling, the degradation directly undermines the safety required for an infant feeding product.

What Should Consumers Do?

Health officials and TOMY urge parents to stop using the recalled pink tie-dye bottles immediately and move them out of reach of children.

Consumers are advised not to return the items to local Walmart stores. Instead, the recall remedy is being managed directly through the manufacturer. TOMY is offering impacted consumers two replacement choices:

  1. Store Credit: A $22 digital store credit valid for use at booninc.com.
  2. Free Replacement: A free replacement set of three Boon NURSH bottles in a different, unaffected color.
