MITCHELL — A reported hit-and-run investigation involving a teenager on a scooter has taken an unexpected turn after local authorities uncovered video evidence of the incident.
The accident occurred on Friday, at approximately 12:40 p.m. in the area of 903 West Brook Street, according to the Mitchell Police Department.

Mitchell Police Chief Troy Lobosky said a 14-year-old boy who was injured in a scooter accident was not struck by a vehicle, despite an initial report indicating otherwise.
The report prompted concern within the community and led officers to investigate in an effort to identify the alleged driver involved. However, after reviewing security camera footage from the area, investigators determined that no vehicle had been involved in the incident.
According to Chief Lobosky, the juvenile lost control of his scooter after striking an object on the sidewalk, causing him to fall and sustain injuries.
“After reviewing the available footage, it was determined that no vehicle was involved,” Lobosky said.
The matter has since been addressed by the family and law enforcement.
