INDIANA – Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Crawfordsville; JCBank, Seymour; and Centier Bank, Merrillville, have been honored with Indiana Bankers Association C2C (Commitment to Community) Awards for outstanding community service performed during 2025.
Hoosier Heartland State Bank won the Small Banks category. The bank’s vision is to have every customer say, “My banker treats me like family and has changed my life!”
“Community service fits into our overall mission because that’s who we are,” said Bradley J. Monts, president & CEO of Hoosier Heartland State Bank. “Since 2013, we’ve given back more than $2.5 million to area nonprofits. That, along with the service that we try to give back to those organizations, really makes a big difference in our community because when our nonprofits thrive, we thrive.”
Marvin Veatch, president and CEO of JCBank, said, “At JCBank, community service is central to our identity and how we live out our purpose every day. We are truly humbled to be recognized for something that is simply part of who we are in community banking — showing up, lending a hand, and investing in local nonprofit organizations that support the people and communities we serve.” The Seymour-based bank won in the Mid-sized Banks category. Veatch continued, “This recognition speaks to the dedication of the JCBank team and our ongoing commitment to serve others and help meet needs that might otherwise go unmet.”
Centier Bank, Merrillville, won in the Large Banks category. Bank President Chris Campbell said their community involvement dates back to the bank’s founding in Whiting in 1895.
“Our support has grown throughout the years and is something in which we are very invested,” said Campbell. “In 2025 alone, our community service efforts were remarkable: more than 715 of our 1,100 associates volunteered, we held nearly 4,000 education sessions, and we were able to support more than 900 organizations across Indiana.”
Winners were chosen out of 18 entrants across the three categories. The awards were presented on Thursday, May 21, during the IBA Mega Conference in Indianapolis. Alliance Bank, Francesville; First State Bank, Middlebury; and First Merchants Bank, Muncie, were also recognized as finalists.
The Association created the C2C Awards in 2018 to celebrate exceptional bank outreach and raise public awareness of the diverse ways that banks support the communities they serve.
“Banks are not only economic drivers in communities across the state of Indiana, but true community partners,” said Amber R. Van Til, IBA president and CEO. “It’s our honor to recognize Hoosier Heartland State Bank, which donates 10% of its net income to nonprofits across its markets; JCBank, which contributed more than $170,000 to local organizations, focusing on affordable housing, food security, and healthcare initiatives; and Centier Bank, which logged more than 27,000 hours of volunteerism, including more than 550 hours of financial education. These are just three examples from the roughly 115 IBA-member banks that serve their communities day in and day out.”
