Nationwide recall issued for Allprovide Dog Food due to plastic contamination

NATIONWIDE Georgia-based Allprovide Pet Foods LLC has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of approximately 1,500 pounds of its premium AllProvide Holistic Pet Food Gently Cooked Chicken Recipe For Dogs. The recall was initiated following consumer complaints revealing that the frozen meals may contain foreign plastic fragments.

The recall was formally published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 21, 2026. To date, no adverse health events or injuries have been reported in connection with the contaminated food.

AllProvide is popular among health-conscious pet owners for its human-grade, minimally processed, lightly cooked diets. However, federal regulators warn that foreign plastic matter in pet food poses an immediate physical risk to animals.

Ingesting plastic fragments presents a multi-layered health hazard to dogs. The material can act as a choking hazard or cause severe internal damage, including lacerations to the mouth, throat, and delicate lining of the digestive tract. Larger fragments can cause full or partial intestinal blockages, which are life-threatening and frequently require emergency surgical intervention.

Internal injuries from foreign objects are not always immediately apparent. Veterinarians advise pet parents to closely monitor their animals for the following warning signs:

  • Choking, gagging, or reluctance to eat
  • Vomiting or acute abdominal pain/distress
  • Lethargy or unusual behavior
  • Bloody stool or difficulty passing stool

Smaller dogs and those with pre-existing gastrointestinal sensitivities face a heightened risk of severe complications from swallowing foreign objects.

Instructions for Consumers

If you possess any of the recalled product, stop feeding it to your pets immediately.

To secure a refund or replacement, Allprovide is instructing direct-order customers to take a clear photograph displaying the batch number and product name as evidence before discarding the food.
