BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Community Foundation (LCCF) has officially opened the application window for its annual non-traditional scholarship cycle.

Administered under the umbrella of the Community Foundation Partnership, Inc., these specialized scholarships are designed specifically for adult learners and non-traditional students who postponed pursuing post-secondary or higher education for at least one year following their high school graduation.

Residents who meet the criteria have until Sunday, May 31, 2026, to complete and submit their applications online.

Available 2026 Non-Traditional Scholarships

According to details published by the foundation and shared via WBIW, this cycle features three major named scholarship opportunities tailored to help residents cover the costs of accredited college, university, or technical programs:

  • The Bedford Elks Ladies Marie Disbennett Scholarship: Open to both male and female students who have been out of high school for at least one year and are currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited institution.
  • The Walk with Excellence Returning Women’s Scholarship: Specifically available to female students returning to school after a gap of at least one year since high school graduation.
  • The Amalie Ford Barger Scholarship: Established to provide financial aid for qualified Lawrence County students attending Oakland City University.
