Sondra K. Sons, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne.
Born July 4, 1939, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Paul W. and Inez Catherine (Fisher) Lewis. Sondra married James M. Sons, and he preceded her in death. She retired from Chase Bank in Bedford and was a member of Restoration Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by a daughter, Jami Sons Beard and son-in-law Robert T. Beard; grandson, Reid T. Beard and his girlfriend Darcy Holt; a sister, Carol A. Scherschel; Co-mother-in-law, Emilie R. Beard; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, and a brother, Robert Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, May 22nd, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will take place from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 21st, at Day & Carter Mortuary. Memorial contributions can be made to Owensburg Baptist Church.
