INDOT announces major shift to browser-based contract bidding process

INDIANA — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced a significant modernization of its contract bidding process, moving away from standalone software in favor of a more accessible, web-based system.

Starting June 10, 2026, the agency will migrate its bidding workflows to Bidx.com. This transition is designed to eliminate the technical hurdles associated with the current process, specifically removing the requirement for bidders to have specialized software, such as AASHTOWare Project Bids™, installed on their devices.

The shift to a browser-based experience is expected to provide a more seamless and efficient environment for all approved bidders. Key benefits of the new system include:

  • Universal Compatibility: Because the system operates through a web browser, it is compatible with all modern operating systems—including Mac—and various web browsers.
  • Integrated Workflow: Essential bidding requirements, such as the Bidder ID and the Infotech® Digital ID™, will be integrated into a new, intuitive workflow.
  • Direct Submission: Users will be able to complete and submit their bids directly through Bidx.com.

Implementation Timeline

INDOT has established a timeline to help contractors prepare for the transition:

  • June 10, 2026: Migration to the new Bidx.com workflows begins, and updated bid forms will become accessible on the platform.
  • July 8, 2026: The target date for the initial “letting” (the opening of competitive bids) under the new enhanced system.

INDOT officials stated that further resources and a detailed migration timeline will be released soon to ensure a smooth transition for the contracting community.

Contractors with questions regarding the new process are encouraged to reach out to the agency via email at INDOTBidders@indot.in.gov.
