MITCHELL – The Mitchell Community Schools Board of Trustees has scheduled two meetings for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, beginning with a financial presentation followed by a private session to discuss personnel and legal matters.
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Community Schools Central Office, located at 441 North 8th Street.
The initial special session will feature a presentation by Chad Blacklock, a financial advisor from Stifel, Inc. The board is expected to review financial data and receive professional guidance regarding the corporation’s fiscal standing or upcoming projects. This portion of the meeting is open to the public.
Immediately following the conclusion of the special session, the board will move into a closed executive session. According to the official notice, the board will meet privately to address the following items:
- Prospective Employees: To receive information about and interview candidates for potential employment, as permitted by Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(5).
- Performance Evaluations: To discuss the job performance evaluations of individual employees under Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(9).
- Legal Consultation: To hold privileged communications with an attorney, as authorized by Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(19).
As required by Indiana’s Open Door Law, executive sessions are closed to the public and the media to allow governing bodies to discuss sensitive personnel and legal issues. Any official action or voting resulting from these discussions must take place during a future public meeting.
