Jug Rox make a difference day: Students and staff to lead town-wide cleanup tomorrow

SHOALS The community of Shoals will see a wave of volunteerism tomorrow morning as the annual Jug Rox Make a Difference Day officially kicks off.

Students, teachers, and staff from Shoals Community Schools are set to spread out across the town to clean local roadways, parks, and other public spaces. The event is a longstanding tradition aimed at fostering community pride and teamwork among the student body.

Local officials are urging motorists to exercise extra caution throughout the day. With a high volume of volunteers working near streets and intersections, drivers are encouraged to slow down and remain vigilant for pedestrians in high-visibility gear.

Additionally, residents should be aware of the following local impacts:

  • Road Closure: The intersection of Main Street and 2nd Street will remain closed to through traffic. This closure is necessary to allow work to continue on the town’s new community mural project.
  • Town Hall Operations: Shoals Town Hall may close periodically during the day. Staff members will be rotating out of the office to assist student groups by delivering fresh garbage bags and collecting filled bags from various cleanup sites.

The “Make a Difference Day” initiative serves as a bridge between the school and the municipality, tackling beautification projects that might otherwise be delayed. By participating in the cleanup and the mural project, students are playing a direct role in the ongoing revitalization of the downtown area.

For more information on the cleanup routes or the mural project, residents can contact the Shoals Community Schools administration or visit the Town of Shoals social media pages.
