James Taylor tribute act Bill Griese to bring his ‘Sweet Baby James’ show to Mitchell Opera House May 16

MITCHELL Nashville singer-songwriter Bill Griese will bring his acclaimed “Sweet Baby James” show to the Mitchell Opera House on May 16, 2026.

Billed as America’s #1 James Taylor tribute, the performance features Griese’s vocals and guitar playing in a presentation designed to honor the music of “JT” without the use of gimmicks or impersonations. The show is noted for Griese’s down-to-earth personality and a sound that fans have described as “the next best thing to James”.

The setlist is expected to include iconic hits such as “Fire and Rain,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Shower the People,” “How Sweet It Is,” and “Steamroller,” alongside various hidden gems from Taylor’s catalog.

Tickets for the performance are $25 for all attendees. E-tickets are available for purchase through the Mitchell Opera House website or via Humanitix. Local residents may also purchase tickets with cash or check at ACE in Mitchell. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the venue’s ticket booth on the night of the event, where cash, check, and cards will be accepted.

Doors are scheduled to open at 6:15 p.m.. All seating for the event is first-come, first-served.

The Mitchell Opera House is handicap accessible. Organizers remind attendees that food and drinks are not permitted inside the auditorium.

The event is hosted by Hoosier Uplands, a community service organization that has operated since 1966. The organization provides all services regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability status.
