Monroe County Health Department and The Milk Bank open a Milk Express: New programs expand access to safe donor breast milk, support infant health, and health equity

BLOOMINGTON — Monroe County Health Department is proud to announce the grand opening of its Milk Express in partnership with The Milk Bank.

This new Milk Express location further strengthens the Monroe County Health Department’s commitment to maternal and infant health, providing life-sustaining nutrition to newborns while supporting equitable access for families in need.

“We are thrilled to be part of this incredible support system, and to build on our existing services for new and expectant parents,” said Monroe County Health Administrator Lori Kelley.

The Milk Express is now open to the public, and a grand opening event will take place on June 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Monroe County Health Department, located at 119 West 7th Street Bloomington, IN 47404.

The Milk Express is a distribution hub where parents and caregivers—both within the hospital and across the community—can purchase Pasteurized Donor Human Milk. Orders can be placed on The Milk Bank’s website and picked up at the Monroe County Health Department on Mondays and Wednesdays between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:00 a.m. and Noon.

This is The Milk Bank’s 24th Milk Express in Indiana, and the first to open in Monroe County.
